2019 Local Consult Process

The Local Consult process is KDOT’s keystone engagement opportunity for the IKE program. Kicking off in 2019, Local Consult meetings will take place every two years to help KDOT shape investments that will fit the needs of your region today and into the future.

Beginning in Fall 2018, the Joint Legislative Transportation Vision Task Force started the work of compiling a list of transportation projects across the state. KDOT shared those lists with participants at the first round of Local Consult meetings in August 2019. The regional project information prepared for the Local Consult meetings, as well as summaries of each meeting, are listed below. ROUND 1 INFORMATION

The first round of Local Consult meetings took place in eight communities around the state. These meetings gave Kansans the opportunity to discuss new and existing transportation projects to move people, freight and technology. Participants also took part in a scenario planning exercise to thoughtfully consider transportation needs in Kansas communities in the future - needs that shape conversations and priorities beginning today.

ROUND 2 INFORMATION

The second round of Local Consult meetings included discussions about each region’s top-rated highway projects. Participants were asked to provide feedback about each project from a regional perspective. Participants also gave input on their priorities for the agency’s modal and set-aside programs and on future funding considerations. These meetings were open to the public. Summaries of the meetings, including helpful information about the regional highway project lists, were posted on KDOT’s Kansas Transportation site, and are linked below.
