Local Consult is KDOT’s public engagement process for the IKE program. It takes place every two years to get Kansans’ input on a list of potential expansion and modernization projects for each region. It’s also an opportunity to strengthen local partnerships, to better understand which KDOT programs matter most to communities, and to get feedback on how we can improve delivery.
The schedule for the 2023 Local Consult is posted below. The format is the same for each meeting – a short presentation followed by small group discussions focused on a district’s transportation needs and goals. All of the meetings are open to the public. An additional meeting will be held virtually. Watch this page for additional details.
KDOT is preparing to host eight in-person meetings across the state and one virtual meeting this fall as part of the 2023 Eisenhower Legacy Transportation Program (IKE) Local Consult process. Local Consult is a two-year rolling program that gives KDOT a forum to listen to regional needs from Kansans who live and work in each of KDOT's six districts and two metro areas. Participants will have the opportunity to share their region's transportation priorities, hear about investments being made in transportation in their area, and learn about the various grant funding programs available through KDOT. The dates and locations of the Local Consult meetings are posted below. Details of the virtual meeting as well as other materials will also be posted over the coming months.

IKE is a 10-year program that addresses highways, bridges, public transit, aviation, short-line rail and bike/pedestrian needs across Kansas. The program and associated projects are focused on making roads safer, supporting economic growth and creating more options and resources for Kansans and their communities. For more information about the IKE program: www.ike.ks.gov.
The foundation of the Local Consult process is built on KDOT listening to Kansans. No one is closer to the transportation challenges in your region than you. As a two-year rolling program, IKE creates an on-going opportunity for Kansans to weigh-in on the transportation challenges facing your region, and for KDOT to listen and adapt to your region’s transportation needs and invest your tax dollars accordingly. The IKE program’s commitment to transparency means that key data about our performance will be easily accessible to Kansans – even at your fingertips on a mobile device. More data provides more opportunities for understanding how transportation resources are used in Kansas – and supports our accountability to taxpayers.
